from Cape Town to Corbridge

About Us

The start of a journey

Cupper’s Journey began during our time living and working in South Africa.

It was there that we discovered a very different way of experiencing coffee. In the speciality coffee houses of Cape Town, coffee was brewed slowly and thoughtfully, with care given to every detail — from the origin of the beans to the way the water was poured. Coffee wasn’t rushed. It was respected.

That experience changed how we think about coffee.

‘Cape Town is one of the great foodie cities of the world, it’s got this incredible energy around coffee — roasters and baristas who treat brewing like art.’

Inspired by Africa

Africa is the birthplace of coffee, and living in South Africa opened our eyes to the depth, diversity and quality of African coffees. We learned about beans grown slowly at altitude on small, often family-run farms, each producing coffee with its own distinctive flavour and story.

We also learned that great coffee isn’t just about scores or techniques — it’s about intention, patience and connection. The pour-over method, so embedded in African coffee culture, became central to how we enjoy coffee: a slow, mindful way to bring out the best in every bean.

Bringing the Journey Home

When we returned to the UK, we knew we wanted to bring this approach with us.

Cupper’s Journey was created to share the coffees and culture we fell in love with — connecting people in the UK to exceptional African coffees and encouraging a slower, more thoughtful way of drinking coffee. It’s a journey from farm to cup, from Africa to the UK, and from habit to a ritual.

Sourcing the best coffee is important

We source only single origin, single estate and microlot coffees, carefully selected for their quality, traceability and character. Every coffee we offer scores 84+ on the cupping scale, ensuring outstanding flavour and consistency, with the majority over 86.

Our Ethics

We work with producers who share our values around sustainability, ethical sourcing and environmental responsibility. These are not mass-produced coffees — they are the result of dedication, skill and care at every stage of the process.

Our approach

We are proud to champion the slow coffee movement.

Pour-over brewing sits at the heart of what we do, allowing the natural flavours of African coffees to shine. It’s a hands-on, mindful method that invites you to slow down, pay attention and enjoy the process as much as the cup itself.

More Than Coffee

For us, Cupper’s Journey is about more than coffee. It’s about education, connection and community.

Alongside our coffees, we curate brewing equipment we genuinely believe in, support home brewers and hospitality partners, and continue to explore new ways to share African coffee culture — from supplying green beans to developing future projects rooted in craft and origin.

Why We Do It

We believe coffee deserves time, care and respect — for the land it comes from, the people who grow it, and the people who drink it.

Cupper’s Journey exists to honour African coffee, support sustainable producers and invite people to experience coffee differently.
